THE SEIKOLOGIST / PRIVACY
Your information.
Handled with care.
How we use your information when you browse, join the drop list or get in touch.
Updated 27 September 2026. Our first collection is coming soon; this website is not currently taking orders or payments.
Who is responsible
Benjamin Mewha, sole trader trading as The Seikologist, is the data controller. Email bentheseikologist@gmail.com with privacy questions or requests.
When you get in touch
We receive your email address, name and whatever you include in your message, such as photographs or details of a watch. We use these to respond and continue the conversation. Our lawful basis is legitimate interests in answering enquiries and running the business; where you ask about a potential purchase or sale, we may also process information to take steps towards a contract at your request. You choose what to send, but we need a reply address to respond.
The contact link opens your email app. Messages are handled through Google / Gmail. We keep enquiries while the conversation and any related follow-up remain relevant, and longer where needed to deal with a dispute or meet a legal obligation.
When you join the drop list
The embedded Brevo form collects your email address and your agreement to receive collection announcements and watch updates. We rely on your consent for these emails. You must confirm through the link in the confirmation email before joining the list. Joining is optional and does not reserve a watch.
Brevo holds subscriber details, consent and delivery records. It may also record email opens and link clicks. We use those records to operate the list and understand how our messages are received. Google reCAPTCHA helps protect the signup form against automated submissions and may process connection and device information.
Unsubscribe using the link in any marketing email, or contact The Seikologist at the address above. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that was lawful before withdrawal. We retain subscription records while you remain subscribed and the minimum suppression information needed to honour an unsubscribe. We do not sell the mailing list.
When you browse
Netlify hosts the website and handles connection information, including IP addresses and request details, to deliver pages and maintain security. We rely on legitimate interests in operating a reliable, secure website. Google Fonts supplies the typefaces used on our pages and receives the connection information needed to deliver them.
We have not added advertising trackers or a website analytics service. The signup form connects to Brevo and Google reCAPTCHA when loaded. These services may use cookies or device information for the form and bot protection. Their notices explain their use of these technologies. You can manage cookies through your browser, although blocking them may prevent the form from working.
Providers and international processing
Our providers include Netlify for hosting, Brevo for the mailing list, and Google for email, fonts and reCAPTCHA. They may also process information for their own security and legal purposes. Their privacy notices explain this in more detail.
These providers operate internationally, so information may be processed outside the UK, including in the United States. Applicable provider arrangements may use recognised adequacy frameworks or contractual safeguards for international transfers. Contact us for information about the safeguards applying to your information. Provider logs and backups have their own retention arrangements; removing a live record does not necessarily remove backup copies immediately.
Your rights
You can ask to access or correct your information, request deletion or restriction, object to processing based on legitimate interests, and request portability where applicable. Rights depend on the circumstances. We may need to confirm your identity before responding. You can withdraw marketing consent at any time.
Please contact us first if you have a concern. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office.
Changes
We will update this notice when our use of information changes, including before we begin taking orders through the website.
